A multiview drawing is a drawing that requires more than one two-dimensional view in order to provide an accurate shape and size descrip- tion of the object being produced. In devel- oping the needed views, the object is normally viewed from six basic directions, as shown in Figure 9-1. These are the six principal views.
orthographic projection The system by which the views of a multiview drawing are arranged in relation to each other. The process of projecting two or more views of an object onto imaginary planes by drawing lines perpendicularly from the object to the planes.
